Anybody tried their sites? Is it worth stumping up the 42 quid membership to join? Are they early bay friendly? Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers :)

Sorry thats my own opinion thats all

they do have sum great sites etc but i have been to a few and they are full off the white bread =van citreon type things and a few on there were not impressed with a slammed junkwagon turning up thats all and there are loads rules and regs, having said that they were clean and tidy and most were friendly, i guess it takes all sorts

we stick to the lower end of the scene really ie farms etc.

Personally I'd say yes. I'm not a big club fan but they do have some awesome sites and prime locations. The way I see it is, if you use their sites for a couple of weekends you get your membership back in discount. Agreed they might charge a little more in the first instance but with that does come a standard.

As for rules, yeah the rule book is massive but, ive been a member for 4 years, never read it, I'm 30 years old, like a decent drink, camp with friends etc but then again i respect the people around me and never fell victim of the rules. My view is, They're there to keep away arse holes (which we all want) so its not a problem.

I joined the rival Camping and Caravanning Club last year. They seem less stuck up than the CC lot and we always, without fail, come across other buses. Happened just the other week in the Cotswolds and in Dorset. Their web site is absolute crud though...all gloss and bugs.

I have nothing against the farm end of the market, and CCC have some great small certified sites that are just that, fields at the back of pubs and farms, that are just the job for the odd night here and there. But you can't beat a hot shower first thing on a chilly morning whilst the misses fries the bacon.

The only thing that puts me off is the dogs and kids...why do caravaners have loads of dogs and kids? And why do I always get the pitch next to the dog run and the swings?

Well just arriving back from cornwall, I have some what changed my opinion.... Found some lovely campsites in very prime positions, with cc membership it is £17.50 and without was £27.50. Really thinking of joining next yr because I begrudge paying massive camping fees but can live with £17.50 for an awesome view. Much love

I/We will be joining the Caravan Club once the bay is one the road. We've stayed at them previously with our westy with no issues at all. The Club sites are all of a certain standard with all the facilities a family camping needs...

I appreciate it's not everyones cup of tea, but it suits us as the locations and facilities are very good..

w.r.t. membership costs, you can stay on the sites without being a member, but the nightly rate is significantly higher. If you are just staying for one weekend, then perhaps not worth the outlay, any more than that and you'll get your money back anyway...
