Just listening to Jeremy vine talking about the vw t2 on radio 2
He makes it sound like all our campers are falling apart

Just been listening too...they do have some pretty ill informed people on (apart from Dave Eccles of course)...but it does show even more how people do not maintain there buses correctly. They should not break down! I have done sooo many miles in mine over the years and it has hardly ever broken down...and if it has its just been down to metal fatigue or similar. I sent in 3 sensible texts, but none were read out unfortunately. :(

Its a shame Dave Eccles was cut short when the resident 'expert' arrived, as he clearly didnt know his arse from his elbow ... he stated how the engine was moved from the back to the front or maybe the middle during Brazilian production and that a splt screen van didnt mean two front windows, just that there would be a bar down the middle!

The story from the SA fellow was cool though 8)

Last of the busses even got a short homage at the end of Newsnight last night. Any one else see it?

Well stupid crap sensationalist kak is all they want these days. I had the misfortune to watch a bit of that "Chicken Shop" porgramme last night  ..........How can this be classed as entertainment??? It's just cheap to make tabloid junk moron watching.

There must be ordinary folks go in there, that might say something interesting. Wouldn't even watch that!

Phasing out of the T2 was mentioned on Chris Evan's breakfast show this morning also :msn4:

I covered 4100 miles since last September and never broke down once nor did I have any other problems with my bus, just serviced it regular and changed the oil every 3month or 300 miles which ever came first

:D

Bloody missed it!!!

Caught the end, something about a cylinder head and a fridge??

Il keep an eye on the news thisevening to see if there is anything on there about it.

I've been asked to go on Radio Wales to discuss "the demise of the camper" ... I said "what do you mean, the demise? Mine was built 42 years ago!"

Mine's never broken down....oh hang on, I've not got it going yet

My local radio station is Radio Solent, and I'm a regular listener (and contibutor) to Alex Dyke's mid morning show.
Alex absolutely loves VW campers, and he often chats about them on his show (and classic cars in general), and I've chatted on air about them on two or three occasions. :D

expert , as he did'nt know any thing about vw 's he should have kept his mouth shut .better to be thought the fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt

I did 25k miles in mine last year...only had me stopped once....for a few mins....when a spark plug got spat out as it had worked loose! (oh and a clutch cable snapped, so I drove home without the clutch....not much stops me and my van!).
Keep em standard and maintained = Reliable happy motoring!

Just a thought, not only may the value of our Busses go up, BUT now they've stopped making the T2,the cost of parts may also go up as the cheap Brazilean parts source will eventually run dry....DOH !
