Hi I bought a second hand JK van cover of volkszone during the summer and have been using it over the last few days..... I have just been out to see how good it is at keeping rain water of the van it's not good new!!!!!

I think it would be better with no cover on currently as its seems to retain the water and condensation on the bay's body work the gutter chanels are filled to the brim!!!

Good job all the seals are water tight, dry as the sahara inside

Has any one else had experiences with keeping there bay under a JK cover, is it because I really need a new cover...Buy Cheap pay twice and all?

Any suggestion would be grand:p:p

You gets what you pays for, I had no joy with my JK cover either. Consequently i spent £320 on a pro tech cover and it was excellent ;) . Pricey. but a lot cheaper than a load of repair panels and paint ;)

JK covers done to death on here - concenus is that these are crap (think only one person has had good results on here  ) ;)

Tell you what, I'm damn glad I got mine whilst my van is outside, with the last few days rain we have had! May not be in entirely the correct orientation though......

I used a JK cover and thought it satisfactory. Having seen the Protec cover on caravans there is no doubt they are excellent. I always drove my van every third weekend at the least so any build up of moisture would go (obvioiusly not if it was raining) but I found that when it was windy the wind blew under the cover and dried it out anyway. I bought my cover from new and wasn't sure how long it would stay water tight so I bought some tent reproofing spray to make sure it stays water tight and I can safely say I have never found my gutters full!!

Took mine for a spin on Sunday, dried the exterior off and covered it. I don't want any more water in the doors until i can fix/replace them!!!

Had a look today following some heavy downpours and all ok so far. :)

bought the JK one due to price and ease of purchase - needed it quickish. Its never leaked or trapped water or blown away and as far as I can see - it does the job, however I can see that it would be easily ripped. The only complaint I have is that one of the tabs ripped off due to poor stitching.
as has been said you gets what ya pays !

Straight from the horses mouth, so to speak.
A reply to a post I made on the JK forum from one of the sales team...

"So your van cover is letting water thru?

The covers will allow some water thru as they are a breathable cover, to make it waterproof you need to buy a tarpaulin, but that is a very bad idea as you end up holding moisture against the body at all times. If you want to have a total seal from the elements you will need to buy a Carcoon, I believe the outdoor version of there product large enough for the Type 2 is approximately £700

These covers aren't intended to be waterproof."

lol :)..... do you think their seals aren't suppose to be water proof as well, it would explain a lot

yeah, i bought a jk cover to cover my van whilst i was away working abroad. it sat on my sisters drive covered to some extent for 2 1/2 years. when i got back i spent the summer welding in new front arches, sills, rear acrhes and a rear corner

the cover had retained moisture flapping around the bottom of the van, slowly rotting it away. might as well as wrapped it up in towels?

i think no cover is actually better than cover for a water tight van; it gets wet, it gets dry?
