Yep, I had a text from him last week.

I dealt with him for a few months earlier this year - he wasn't always around when I rang, but he always responded. He seems to like texts, I guess he can reply in the evening rather than try and pick up the phone when he's on the tools?

If you haven't got his mobile, drop me a pm

He is building my engine at present, or was until a catering van blew its engine and jumped the queue! :)

I was supposed to have my engine back in May.
Not doubting he is a nice guy and when he does speak to me he is very pleasant.. but I'm at the end of my patience and think I may have to get a bit more drastic in my approach. I know this forum rules and this is no witch hunt or slagging off. I just wanted to see if I was the only one being ignored which it seems is a good possibility sadly

Nothing wrong with you commenting on your experiences fellah :)

No worries dood, contact him as suggested, when its best to speak to him. Either way, your the customer so anything over due they should be on the back foot for you. I personally would be on the case daily.

Rips,

I can see where your frustration lies - if it helps, it was my experience too, I spoke to Laurie in January and got the engine in July. I left many messages which didn't get a response, but he will respond ... and its quite likley that he's either been collecting stuff for your build (he did for me) or he's practically finished the thing but just forgot to let you know.

I've dealt with a few so called specialists since i got my bus, and some have left me cold over their service. Laurie isn't one of those - he's eccentric (and, almost by definition, thinks he's completely normal) but, i think, he does a bloody good job, doesn't charge anything liek what some poeple will, and produces a good product.

For me, the wait for what i think is good quality was worth it - there are several on here who will say the same, but i guess it won't work for all. The other thing that swung it for me was personal accounts of how he looks after people even if there are problems after it's been installed - even if the problem isn't of his making or, i've heard, when the engine was not one of his.

Not sure where this leads either, but don't make a decision that you might regret later

Had a call from Laurie today, I think Jonboy gave him a heads up (thanks if you did!)

He has promised me It will be ready and on a pallet by the end of next week.. fingers crossed

As said above, he is unique and not a businessman in the traditional sense. He provides a personal service at ridiculously small costs and bends over backwards to help and as a consequence get inundated with requests. He will do right by you but go in with eyes wide open. If you need a quick turn around from the other end of the country it will be a tough call.

Paul, I believe you will be very happy with your engine, he has gone above and beyond.. As usual.

Let us know how it goes.

Just wanted to say, I have no connection with anything involved here but I think this forum is great the way we can explain our issues & others help. Not just shoot you down, as I've seen before. Well done EB, normal service may resume.... :)

On its way home wahoo very excited.. Will be sending another lump up to Laurie soon :)
