Any ideas its a 1969 reg panel van . Looking for paint code really as i know a Panel van doesn`t have many or any extras Thanks :wink:

First lot is from the chassis plate

TYP 21 = panel van

TYP2 / 255A = Type2 1300/1600cc engine heater certificate number(German authority checks)

No - 219190480 21 = panel van 9 = 1969 190480 = chassis number

Zul Gesamigew - kg 2175 Baujahr maximum vehicle weight

Zul Achslastvorn - kg 975 Hinten kg 1200 front/rear axle weights

PS = possibly destination code for VW Portugal CKD

2110 = panel van, LHD sliding door right standard version

9190480 = 1969 chassis number

If you have any pictures of them it might reveal more as early plates read differently to the later ones :wink:

Hi there,

You have a very nice looking T2a panel van there! I saw your thread... http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20193&start=0&hilit=portugese+Van" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I decided to contact you because i found a few owners of portuguese VW's Type1 and Type2. I also have a portuguese 1968 T2a Kombi. Like you, we also have an "incomplete" m-plate as our vans and busses were sent as CKD (in parts) from Germany to be assembled in Setubal (Portugal) to avoid importation taxes and other costs.
It would be great if you could add your m-plate in our topic in TheSamba.com here:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7867615" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So that new owners of portuguese Splitties and bays won't feel alone when they find out they have a strange looking m-plate :shock: ! Just like we did :lol:

Best regards,
