Right - I think the time has come to take the van for its first MOT since about 2000.
What might it fail on - I know, impossible to answer!
Assuming all lights and indicators work, and that there is no obvious structural rust, what else should I look out for - assuming such an old vehicle is just a smoke test as far as emissions? Can't remember what the rules were last time - they change so quick.
Obvious things to check - brakes/brake balance I guess....
Van is 150 miles away, so I'm limited to a day or so at a time until I get her up here with me, so Iam trying to anticipate what I may need to do at the weekend and stock up on parts

On my Dads drive in Somerset for the last few years. Finally getting her back on the road, as our next door neighbour up here in Godalming has said we can use her garage, right next to ours, and under the flat!
Going home this weekend, and thought now she is running, I thought I might take her for an MOT and see what needs doing - hence the desire to be as prepared as I can. Just remembered that ball joints and rubber boots were always a pain - I think I need to replace some of those on the half shafts.....

I think there is a mot website you can look this sort of stuff up. If i,m right, rubber gaiters can have splits as long as there is no play in the joint and they have not dried up,so get ya finger in there with some grease and make em look wet.
