After 5 years, i just watched my van have its roof sprayed. I am not someone who is emotional but i was like a 10 year old at xmas. Another week and its ready to put back together. I have four mates to help me out with the construction. I have never owned one of these before i have ploughed more money than i ever thought into the resto, rebuilt my own engine, under supervision . I hope that my dream of VW ownership is as good in reality as it is in my head.

On the first trip out i am going to have Highway to Hell smashing out of the speakers as i rock along at 30 mile an hour

Cheers, it's taken five years as I have had to save before carrying out work. Then save again and again and again. I remember saying to the long haired general that we would buy it sort it and have it on the road in 6 months. 5 years later we are nearly there. I have a garage full of bits ready to fit and probably a garage more of bits to buy. Hope it lives up to my expectations as if I have to sell I will never get my dosh back

Good luck and hope its all your expecting :)

Exactly same boat......have to do as much as possible ourselves and be saving up for the next bits/parts/paint whilst doing so. Learning as going along by asking lots of questions and doing lots of research.

Having done a 7 year restoration on another make of car I can tell you the BUZZ you get the first time out on a nice day is fantastic. It will be worth it.
