Hello everyone, I have been reading many of the posts here for a time, very enjoyable and funny, you all seem to have a very good time.
I'm likely the oldest guy here (61) and just bought my first bus, a 71 white and yellow, always wanted one but never found myself in the right place and time. I have had it about 2 months and just this past weekend got the 1600 running correctly.
The bus was a one owner spending it's life here in the Southern Calif high desert so there is only 2 rusted out spots that I have found so far, however the sun has done it's best to rot as much rubber as possible.
It sat for some time in back of a house way out in the desert, that invited what we call the desert rats to start stealing parts,, the radio was, not taken out with care and much of the wiring under the dash is a mess.
I will ask some dumb questions I'm sure of you folks who know about the buses, any way, I'm looking forward to getting it put back together and using it to run up and down Calif to my other passion of vintage motocross on my 1955 Triumph. :)

Sorry Johnny, I see that I screwed up placement of my first post !

Hello and welcome from another old guy on here

Nice part of the world you live in.

Nice bike too - rode a 50's 500 twin for a bit back in the early 70's.

hello pal and welcome to the eccentric world of vw ownership , 61 years young ..thats got some good advantages ..like no buggies, nappys, bottles, sticky lollies and the rest of the parafanaliar associated with young ankle biters  we love picys on here so get some posted ,and if youre short of rust on your bus ..we will send you some from the uk. weve got loads of it over here, and its not youre cheap rubbish rust either, its the good chassis rotting stuff......

welcome, good to see you got sorted. dont worry about the first post enjoy the site :D

Welcome dude! I'm not far behind you at 57, I find the van keeps me young.

Mine is a California bus as well, last owner was in Big Bear Lake so that's it's name! I've picked up some postcards and memorabilia and a super grizzly cuddly bear keeps the van company at all times from the dash.... I'm just a kid really eh?

:D thanks Mike, Big Bear is not far from me, I drive by the hi-way going up the hill to BB every week going and coming from work. Nice mountain community, used to drive up there in the winter and ski, it's also part of my area that I work in.

Hello and welcome 8) sit, read, laugh and enjoy
