if its quite thick, you can actually get it powder coated

tell me more - I always thought powder coating works by electricaly charging the item and the powder? :?:

I suggest PVA glue.its clear ,cheap and can be diluted to your choice, dries to a moisture resistant film.thats why decoraters prime bare plaster with diluted PVA.

pva wouldnt be any good to paint on ,for the mdf you would need ,i would think a mdf primer or sealer.

oH, I was thinking for door cards - fair point if its for a visible unit

this is my A-Level project. made from 10mm MDF. i tried sealing it with 50%PVA and 50% water, then spraying it with cellulose paint. for some reason it would cure and harden. then my old man had a word with a chap around the corner from him and he said that he could powder coat it.

apparently the guy sprays the powder onto the panel and then puts it in an oven at 200degrees for 15 mins i think

just the job for protecting against moisture ;) i wouldnt think any paint would stick to it :?:

I used PVA glue mix on my buddy seat then painted it. It was better than painting straight on the wood...

powder coating is not the same as electroplating like chrome,I suppose its a bit like enameling .Frankie.

rustins mdf sealer - i got it from the dump that is trago mills lol

http://www.cglass.co.uk/rustins-mdf-sealer-pr-17689.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - probably cheaper somewhere else,

get a better quality finish by paying more in the first place..if you want to paint mdf the get moisture resistant in the first place....it`s false economy buying cheap tat...me i`m going for the vohringer stuff ;)

MDF sealer / primer available at all good diy stores. Price may be better in a trade decorators merchant , most will deal with the public and give better advice / help then the likes of B&Q. ( at least thats what i have found )

pva,i can understand using it on the backs of the door cards, any where else do what Dave says,if it moisture thats the problem isnt it the seals that need the money spent on them :?:

The problem with painting MDF is that the paint soaks it all up. The PVA seals it so you only need one or two coats of paint.
