I'm in the process of building a 1776 motor for my 71 tintop.

Having read about various types of external oil filters, full flow and spin off types I'm completely confused.

I have a rear moustache supporting mount and obviously the rear apron is completely removable. Does this prevent me from fitting a spin off oil filter, will lines be required & the filter mounted remotely?
I'm sure I've read something on here about this, but can't find it....
If so, any suggestions / advice / pics for a suitable mounting position.

Thanks.

By spinoff I assume you mean the oil filter housing that attaches to the back of the engine/oil pump - these wont fit because of the engine support bar.

Remote filter - most fit it under the tray on the opposite side of the battery. You will need the case machined for 1776 so get the full flow for an oil filter done at the same time.

You can buy connectors that will allow you to connect your remote filter without having to make any modification to the engine support bar and only a little bit of hammering to the tinware piece that fits behind the fan belt pulley.

Pipes can be routed along the support bar, make sure to keep them clear of the exhaust.

Thanks,
I thought there has a problem with the filters that attach directly onto the back of the oil pump / side of the case.

Is there an adapter that allows an external filter to be fitted without a full flow case?
