I need to order some rear adjustable springplates and wondered which were
the prefered choice of my fellow earlybayers?
I have emailed Creative to see if they have any in stock.
Any one got the Slamwerks set up?
Cheers Paul.

I shall be handing over my hard earned to the Slamwerks boys, look very well made and I like the fact theirs have a centering taper on the adjusting screw.

Yeah, their setup just looks neater. Just needs a little slamwerks logo on it

Whose springplates have a built in drop(when the adjuster is all the way up) and how much is the drop?

I talked to bus boys and their adjustable springplates only adjust 38-50mm from stock.

Does wagenswest have adjustable/dropped springplates? Who else other than Creative and Slamwerks?

Red9 sell 2", 3", and 4" drop springplates. :)

Are Red9's springplates dropped and adjustable or just dropped?

Creative's site only shows pics of the "infinitely adjustable" springplates they offer but no detail on the amount of drop when the adjuster is all the way up.

Slamwerk's website says there is a 25mm drop built in to the adjustable springplates they offer for splits but no mention of the bay window versions.

I sent emails sent to both companies, I'll post the info when I get it.

EDIT: The Creative website won't send the email for me and there are no email addresses on the site that I could find. If anyone can get the info about the Creative springplates that would be rad.

Hi

Our spring plates have a very large drop over a stock plate. Our plates have 40mm extra drop over stock. My beige bus has a set of our plates on set at 2 splines with the adjuster just under the middle to give you an idea of the drop they give.

A last note is that the body of the spring plate is shaped so that they don't bottom out on the torsion housing i have no mods to my bus on the spring plate body housing area and i do not bottom out or knock fully load with stuff.

Thanks will keep an eye on the thread in case you have any other questions.

I would certainly recommend Slamwerks springplates.

I had mine put on last week and I cannot believe the difference in ride quality. I would say though that you would have to have the chassis notched if you want to go really low.

It gives you so much flexibilty and can be fine tuned to the exact height you want :D

I have two sets of the Slamwerks adjustable plates, One set is for a customers bus and one set for my own bus , I also have a set of Creative plates which are now ten years old . Comparing the two is like chalk and cheese as Creatives spring plates have never been redesigned in over 12 years , Where as Slamwerks Spring plates are the Next generation so to speak and as such, have many design improvements over the creative plates . Im goin to remove my creative spring plates and fit My Slamwerks spring plates so I can go Lower

So out of the box they have a 40mm drop. How much adjustment do the adjusters give you?

Does anyone in the states run these yet? They really do seem to have the most thought put into them. I heard that I don't have to pay VAT if I buy stuff from the UK, is that true? I wonder if that savings will cover the cost of shipping...

Sorry about hijacking the thread, Childsey. :)

Ooh, this is interesting. I'm actually after going UP a bit at the back. At the moment I'm dropped 1 spline (it seems), which gives about a 2" drop I believe. And with the bus fully laden, the plate is at full travel (so the sidewalls are my suspension).

Going back up a spline (tried it) is way too much (I suspect its more than the 2" as the spring rate is getting stiffer as you go further), so I want to go an inch. I know you can juggle inner and outer splines (4 each way for an inch) - but after 3 hours trying to get the damn things back in as they were, I'm not trying that again!!!!.

The slamwerks adjustables say 25mm for a split - which would have been perfect. But of its a min of 40mm, again that's too much.... (assuming that's at the standard spline position, if you know what I mean....)

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I would have gone for the Creative ones, but with all the info
i now have, it`s got to be Slamwerks :D
I`ve got a 2 spline drop on standard spring plates at present
so, what position do i install adjustable ones to achieve a
similar height?
Cheers Paul

I wouldnt worry. Ive got pretty much new Creative ones, too. I put mine on and easily lowered it enough that I wore the outer CV joint boots away on the chassis! Ive now raised it up enough to ride better and stop damage. The point being is that they will drop you as far as you want to go, up to and beyond chassis notching!
The redesign of the Slamworks ones are very nice, and the locating adjuster is a cool touch, the massive bonus they have is availability, if they can maintain supply to demand they will do very well as lead times from Creative are unacceptable at times.

PM and email sent to the Slamwerks guys, haven't heard anything in two weeks.

Looking forward to hearing what the springplates would cost shipped to the states plus the answers to the above questions.

Hi

Very sorry we must have missed your message.

They have 40mm drop out of the box the adjusters give you about half an inch up and down at the wheel.

I have never sent any sets out to the states but i could send them for you as gift which should dodge the tax problem. I could get you a price for shipping them if you send us your address.

we have been out of stock for a week or so but the new batch will done by the end of this week.

Thanks
