rear bump stops

my van has no rear bump stops, just these ropey stumps of metal. do these unscrew or do i simply grind them off. as i dont think i will be running bump stops when the van is in the weeds

If it helps I read somewhere you can weld a bolt on (not sure of size) and refit the bumpstops

i think i might just grind of the rusted flarred section that used to support the old bump stop the simply clesn up whats left and run without.
