I've just ordered and received a reversing light kit from 'Just Kampers' but it came without instructions.

I've sussed out the best way to wire it up but....

Whereabouts on the gearbox does the reverse light switch fit ?

Thanks for reading and hopefully replying.

I'm speaking from what I know about a Beetle's reverse light switch: it is usually just below the nose cone on the front of the box - facing forward. It is basically a switch closing the circuit to the negative earth of the vehicle, illuminating the reverse light.

(but I can be completely wrong as well!)

over here they decided to send the live through the switch via an inline fuse from the coil..

so live went from the coil..-via the fuse... through the switch located as mentioned on the nosecone then back up to the lights, and thus when the selector fork hit the switch when put into reverse bingo on came the lights...simple huh..

Guys..

Thanks for both replies..There is an in-line fuse in the kit so I guess my
version takes it's power from the coil and thus will only work with ignition
on.

Makes sense to me.

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by the nose cone of the
gearbox ?.

If i reverse the bus up my ramps will I be able to see it from underneath
and access it ?.

What is in the switches place at the moment ?. Some kind of blanking
plug / bolt ?

Thanks in anticipation

There is a round blanking plug with Allen head in it.

Just remove it & fit the switch.

Front most point of the gearbox where the shift rod connects

I can picture in my head on a bug box the fitment of the switch but not on the bus ill see if I can dig out a pic...
