Hi

Does anyone know where I can get a polished 10" VW front badge that isn't going to rust as soon as its fitted?

Cheers
Craig

I've just ordered one of these from the US

http://jogrusa.com/products/68-72-10-bay-window-emblem-stainless-steel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

came in at about 55 quid shipped

time will tell how good it is I'm sure a Peak District winter will test it to the max

My stainless badge rusts

Probably Chinese or Indian supply stainless. They put that much recycled materials that there is a high ferrite content and this is what rusts. If you put a magnet to it and it sticks (yes some stainless steel can be magnetised) then it is more likely to rust. I even have some steak knives that rust! :shock:

304 or lower quality stainless will rust in a corrosive environment, or if you use the van when the roads are gritted..

304 or lower quality stainless is also magnetic because they are ferritic.
You want an austenitic stainless for it to be non magnetic and pretty corrosion resistant.

I bought some salt and pepper pots that were stainless, yeah they made them out of a cheap material so the salt pot started corroding pretty quickly!
