Just noticed I now hit 1000 posts, small fry compared with many of the great folk on here but a milestone none the less. So not so much as a celebration but the timing is funny, I am about to embark on my shortest overnight trip in the westy tomorrow for the weekend.

Approx 8 miles away from home next to this little lot in a field near one of the local 'chalk' White Horses. And thanks for the link Sparkywig :D

Now I love planning the longer journeys with a particular desitination in mind but also enjoy the short 'switch off' breaks, but it struck me, what the shortest journey - apart from sleeping in your bus on your drive - that you have driven just to get away into a peaceful quiet night under the stars without the dreadful orange glow in the sky of a town

Many years ago, about 5 miles, up onto the South Downs to "try it out" with the girlfriend and check for squeaky shock absorbers

350 yards into a field up the road owned by the father in law.

Only one night but the kids loved it. Would be even better with more people, like our own mini busjam.

:)

when i first got my van i was so excited i slept in it on my drive :D

I slept in mine on the road outside the house once after an argument with the mrs but it was December and I had no covers, wasn't the best nights sleep.

I forgot to say....I lived in my van for about 8 months (inc the winter!) while I was building a cabin to live in. once the cabin was completed I didnt want to move into it because it just felt sooo big! :D
