well its that time of the year again and i cant see what value i get, aside from the magazine i rarely read - how many people are members here??

i was about 10 years ago, for 1 year only.... thought it was a waste of money to be honest.

Although like i said that was a long time ago. How much is it ? what do you get for money?

I was a member for a couple of years. I got my van valued which was a godsend for the insurance and i went camping with them last year at easter time. I saved over the price of a years membership just with that one weekends camping.

Its a club that has so much potential but just dosent seem to be run very well. This i think is partly down to the fact that more people dont get involved with the running, but as its a large club with a president etc it can become abit of a closed shop.

I think it needs a good freshen up and they are mad not to do anything about it. If it was run half as well as the SSVC then it would have about five times more members than that club and would be the biggest club in the UK.

They need to sort out a web forum and make the web site better/easier to navigate. If everyone goes along to their tent at a show and lets them know the score maybe things will change for the better.

WHS ^^^

I have just joined thinking it was a good idea being new to VW campers.

It cost £28 - £3 joining fee and £25 membership fee.

TBH other than a sticker to put in the window not really sure what I am getting. Maybe a slight discount on insurance from being a member of a club, apparently I can ask for discount at GSF but I don't get a dsicount card like Clem offered those who joined EarlyBay.com I think you get discounted valuations through the VWT2OC.

Their forum maybe gets a new post once a week. IMHO you'd be better paying £1 and joining EarlyBay.com

We accidentally ambled into their club camping with my bus at 3 counties, i had know intention of stopping, infact i hadn't actually stopped rolling but still got shooed off quick smart by some "senior" members with a gestapo like attitude.... hardly the right attitude for vw show, So in the spirit of fun we felt the need and went back and tried a few more times that afternoon even tho we had set up camp with mates the other side of the show ground. twas very funny 8)

I agree, seems to be run by the older generation at the moment, who are quite content with the way it is.
When I was a member, they seemed to have a bit of a problem, due to my van being lowered, bigger engine, etc, especially at the valuations.

I joined in the past in order to get my bus valued but let my membership lapse. If you like a magazine with pictures of people who wear socks with their sandals and photos of cakes then go for it. It's not my bag though.

Couldn't of said it better myself.......

But I love cake

Got a T2OC sticker on my van when I bought it so maybe I have already got the best thing.

I have a T2OC sticker I haven't bothered to put on my van, should I list it in the for sale section?

long live earlybay!!!

Good shout mate, but a slightly different thing. Anyone who as started or run a actual club rather than a web based forum will know its a totally different ball game.

Its just sad i think that the T2OC dosent make the most of the potential its name suggests.

thanks for the replies. i only really joined for insurance discounts - i think if you pay £25 to renew you get £20 off your insurance and valuations are 20 quid.... and 10% discount at status vw. on that basis membership was free last year.

i gave up on the valuation as i booked it with my local valuer then was told he could not arrange anything and it had to go through a comitee appointed valuations secretary who then told me to speak directly to the man i was talking to in the first place - I did not bother and contemplated sending them a bill for wasting my time!

Where can i get a valuation without joining? do "we" do them?
