Well I thought I had sorted my fuel gauge problem with a broken feed wire at the tank end. Worked fine for two days but on the morning of the Breeze it started flickering and then packed up. Every now and then it would flicker to just above reserve and go back off agai.
So Sunday I earthed out the feed at the tank and the gauge wacked up to full, as it is supossed to, yes? I also earthed it out at the gauge end and no probs there. I changed the sender for a secondhand one I had which my father inlaw had confirmed as working ok. Put this in and still nothing. Although if I pulled the sender out and turned it upside down to move the float, the gauge moved up but not to full. When I turned it back a little the gauge dropped back to zero.
I thought it could be the tank earth and ran another wire from the sender to the body, still nothing.
So does this sound like the voltage stabiliser is playing up? I can't think of anything else. One thing I have noticed but I'm not sure if its related to the stabiliser, is that on sidelights and gently revving they flicker a bit, incuding the illumination bulbs? Is it possible or is that to do with the dynamo?
Can't be doing with no fuel gauge cos you know what's going to happen

This sounds very much like my fuel gauge. If I tap mine on the glass it starts working properly again.

I've learned to live with the "vagueness" of my fuel gauge :msn4:
but here's some good info if you want to fix yours....
