Holy ****!

Several years ago I was told that there is a website in the States where you can check if a vehicle is on the stolen list. Apparently it works by chassis number and make - any of our US friends know about this?
It's very possible that some vans imported to Europe have been stolen in the US - or do US Customs check every export? Presumably if they were nicked in the US, insurance companies own them - so could they reclaim them from Europe? :?

Any chance of a mint 72 westy for a £5 (inc. delivery)

Haven't checked if it's stolen, at 3 quid it's a real deal. Nice paint, no rust, shipping extra.

Dont know about anyone else but I dont fancy putting my chassis no in !! Having said that - in its current state the "owner" probably wouldnt want it back !

checked mine all good.....you can't ship without a title I thought? so it seems confusing to me?? as how did the new unlucky owner [resto co] get a title ? as surely it is registered on the same database ????

i misread this bit of the article
In 1974, the van was nine years old and the owner apparently was trying to spiff it up

thought the owner got stoned and forgot where he parked it or summat

hmmm, do we know any big vw importers in holland.....
