Booked your Summer Holidays yet? How about the ultimate VW trip around Ireland, whilst raising money for two very worthwhile charities?
What is it?
A charity drive involving classic Volkswagens (predominantly campervans, but beetles+tents etc welcome), over 10 days all around the coast of Ireland.
When is it?
15th - 25th August 2007, coming to a coastal road near you!
How to join in?
Get more information at eireball.com
and/or join Type 2 Ireland to ask questions, register interest, receive sponsorship cards, get involved.
You can do the full 10 days, or just join the convoy for an hour or so. Whatever suits you best.
What charities will benefit?
Share-A-Dream Ireland
Bridges Across Borders
Some miscellanea
Last year the grand sum of €10,000 euros was raised, and split evenly between the two charities. Quite impressive for a first time event.
12 vans did the whole trip, plus a beetle cabriolet and a karmann ghia. Over 24 vehicles in total took part in some way through the duration of the trip.
One member drove from Malin Head (Donegal) to Camp in Co Kerry with no clutch, due to the slave cylinder and master cylinder failing at the same time. Spares were sourced by fellow T2i club members and sent ahead to Co Kerry for fitting, and the van completed the trip with no more mechanical hitches.
If you would like to take part (vw's only please) log on to Type 2 Ireland (free to join, more of a community than a club).
If you'd just like more info, and/or would like to make a donation, please go to the eireball.com website for more information and a general overview of what's what!
