I picked up a Solex Pict 3 34 carb at Slough which is in need of reconditioning.

I compared it to my Bocar carb this afternoon and noticed the vacuum pipe for the distributor is blanked off.

It looks like its been like that from new.

Have I bought the wrong carb ?. Was this intended for another model.

Can a vacuum outlet pipe be retrofitted ?.

Just exploring my options. :?

I guess it would make a cool paperweight !

Your thoughts are most welcome

Is it possible to drill the opening and use the vac take off from you old carb?

I guess you would have to drill slightly undersize to get a press fit.

I could probably do something but this seems to have been blanked off at the factory.

I was wondering which vehicle would use as standard a non vacuum distributor.

Is it correct that all standard VWs use a vacuum distributor and the 009 style with centrifugal advance is aftermarket ?

Thanks

The 009 was never fitted by VW. All engines use a variant of either a vac only or SVDA depending on the age and VW's attempts at emission control.
