For the last few months I've been putting this book together...

http://www.mikefloate.clara.co.uk/football_grounds_bookshoplatest_.htm

There's not many of us SE Londoners on here but there's some great history in our footy grounds!

Just one taster... I found that the old Woolwich Arsenal ground was still on maps and presumably derelict in 1936 and that a Woolwich team formed and played there when the pro team moved to Higbury. The first AFC club!

OK another taster... how about Catford having had a velodrome!

Mike are you going to do an obscure velodrome calendar? :) I liked the football ground one (and I'm not a football fan) and also the dugout photos.

Congratulations and a credit to your dedication.

Having worked in publishing / print I appreciate that things like this don't take a couple of weekends.

mike, generations to come will no doubt hail you as the samuel peyps (or more likely martin parr) of football ground photography

I'm amazed to see there are other folk out there doing likewise as well!

excellent work as ever :)

pevsner pretty much focusses on stuff everyone thought looked pretty

the thing about peyps was he recognised the beauty and interest in the humdrum and routine :D
