Tinware cutting through air hoses .. resolutions?

I just bought, what I thought were air-hose grommets for the tinware (type1) but the fit is terrible and almost impossible to thread the hose through.

Any other suggestions for resolving the repeating challenge of air hose wear? Go CSP stainless for example?

You shouldn't need to push the cardboard hoses through the tinware. Your backbox should have a couple of these:

sitting in the air pods, poking up through the tinware. Your cardboard hose will pop over those, and shouldn't really come into contact with the tinware at all.
