We use to call them Jaffel Irons in South Africa when I was younger. :lol:
Remember sitting in the beetle in a car park on holiday. Cheese and Jam(Apricot).

I've just had a couple of cheese n biscuits , extra strong cheddar cheese and pickle
Washed down with a couple of g n t lol

A toastie version sounds lovely
 
got one at the good food show a few years back they are awesome, you can cook egs in them, ready made sealed egg sarnie any variation with cheese.... and sweet ones for pud, apple and jam ready made custard who says camping is ruffin it.
 
Just tried to find some dimensions and I think you might be making lots of them as its only 11cm x 11cm approx so just over 4 inches, about the size of a standard Warburtons Crumpet so they are defintely 'Snack' size
