Intend to re-activate the front running lights and turn them into side indicators

Had a look at the door and can't see any wires going into the door...? are these only reflectors on the front or do they work by magic  - I'm assuming the wires have been pulled back, just wondering if anyone has these connected up and can confirm how the wires get into the doors!

Thanks,

Larry

Hiya lard,

I'm assuming here that we're talking about the rectangular side markers? The circular side markers were 68 and 69 while the rectangulars appeared in 1970.

In the USA the rear side markers starting in 1970 (red) were lighted. The front side markers were only reflectors. However, the front side markers can be turned into lighted version pretty easily. This will involve cutting/drilling the front doors to accept the lighting base and stringing a wire through the door jamb area and forward to the parking lights or (if you prefer) the turn signal.

But..............judging from other comments I have read elsewhere in EarlyBay, I'm not sure these sidelights are legal in Jolly Old England. Are you sure this set-up would meet with MOT approval?

as side indicators they would be very much legal, you'll need to look at what the rating of your relay is though....

Cheers guys - so appears they are reflectors not running lamps :( (it's the rectangle ones) - many thanks for the advise, especially ref the relay & need to mount the rear gubbins - as it means cutting door to fit perhaps this job needs to wait! If it was a simple case of wiring in then would be more straightforward - I'll stick it on the bottom of the list :)
