Hi, I' currently rebuilding my 1600 engine and I'm looking to do it right  with a little tweaking done to it, u know - the usual.

I've been offered a used 1641cc cilinder é piston set for 90£
Here's a pic:

Should I be cautious buying this, or is there little risk involved, or should I just quit fooling around and buy new ones?

Thanks mates

Is that actually £90?

Aren't they about £140 new?

If they were £20, I'd go for them. But personally, not at £90 ;)

I turned down some free 1776 B+Ps once, whoops!

Wish I hadn't now, of course :?

Or see if they will haggle?

If you are not in a hurry, I'd wait and see if something comes up cheap.

But... IMO a completely unknown set of pistons (no known mileage etc?) isn't worth £90.

I paid £200 for a set of 1641 BnPs, and got a full flow case, crank, cams, 2 x 1600 heads, twin kadrons, a clutch, external oil cooler, external oil filter, all the tinware, dynamo and everything else thrown in for free... and all ready, working and assembled and ready to put in to my bug!

Each cylinder has 150psi compression (pretty much brand new) and there is no endfloat.

But for all you know, those ones for sale could have no compression or any multitude of other problems. :?

And the end of the day, the risk is yours :)

Well it seems in my tiny country people like to ask big prices if you know what I mean...
I'l just buy new ones for 270 EUR

They're 142 GBP here..

That's a saving of about 65 Euro. Even with extra shipping costs to Europe you should still saving a few Euro..

Bon chance

James
