Like the title says looking for a good Westy interior for me bus.

I've tried eBay etc but thought someone might know someone with one going spare or aybe a trader etc?

:p

You could try Billy at g'day kombi's (01865400884/07973817244) - he bought our old westy interior (think he's on Vzi).

Or maybe FBI or Volksheaven?

Scott Wilson had a complete Continental interior a few weeks back - may be worth a try

Dan

i've emailed all the suggested parties waiting to hear back

pretty excited about fitting the interior be like having a proper campervan at long last

They will have my interior later this year (end Oct)as they are doing a new copy of me, if this helps

Some bits are good but not all of it, sorry, I also need to flat pack it to get it down there and I know I have glued some of it before

the better half has the details but it was around £1300, we need to varnish it but a mate who has a spray shop will do this. In summary it's a full westy interior exc rock and roll hinges as they will use ours and obviously excluding the soft upholstery, we have altered the door sizes to suit us, asked for a false wall to accept the zig unit, propex etc in the rock and roll, overhead pre-cut for small speakers, dry goods box to fit where the westy stool should be again pre-cut for speakers and false wall inside so no damage to speakers, later westy style fridge unit with dog bowl sink and fold out top table inc spice rack and lower fold out table, main table with prespex cover (removable) so we can cover the table in posters/stickers etc (sorry Easy, but we like yours so much we have robbed your idea), buddy seat with additional slot in top (compartmented) for the TV. It's all in MDF faced both sides which I had concerns about with damp etc in the van, but they will not produce a plywood product as they believe it would be more troublesome. I have only heared good reviews on thier products and after further research have no issues with MDF hence why we are using them.

wow sounds very detailed mate

When is this little project happening i'd love to see the finished product

Job for over the winter, I have not set a timetable with Kustom Interiors except sometime in Feb/March 09 we will require it and in fairness to them I original said we would take the old interior to them in Sept but we are still using the van and I'm waiting for a good surf weekend to make the journey worth while for me (weekend away from the Mrs :D :D :D ). One thing I did miss was we are supplying the handles as we want original westy ones, whilst it's not going to be an original interior we still want to look a bit like one as it works for us.

Mdf is cheaper to buy and easier to work with, its also easier to get with a wide variety of different finishes.

If your tooled up to work with mdf then making something with ply is a pain because its so different to work with.

Mdf not as resistant to moisture as marine ply but as good as ordinary ply which tends to de-laminate when it gets moist. Such high moisture levels should not normally be an issue in a camper, since levels high enough to damage mdf would cause severe mould and rot damage to the soft furnishings and render the whole interior an unpleasant place to be IMO.

The main advantage of ply is that its stronger, more resilient and considerably lighter. :)

Yep! I know and understand the values etc, I think if coated proper it will be ok, used to work for a fit out contractor doing pubs and most bars are faced mdf with exception of the tops
