Couple of questions here i hope yoou can answer for me and maybe show a pic or two.

1). On 68-70 westy's how did they finish the area around the poptop opening.(so you don't see down the back of the van between the two layers of the roof, etc)

2). What is the best way of getting in to the roof beds, Did they have a ladder etc??

many thanks

Jon

Hi there,

not quite sure what your first question means? The vans used to create a westy, were based on sunroof bodies and it has a ply wood headlining with a trim edge, if thats what your asking?

As for the roof bunk, there is no real means to get up there, but everyone does, its a case of climbing and placing your foot somewhere! Maybe the idea was the parent would shove their kiddy up there?

Answer to the first question.

There is a rubber trim that goes around the headlining, but im affraid on earlies there is no trim to hide the inner/outer roof gap.

and 2

My daughter used to stand on the jump seat, put one hand on the bunk rail and one on the side of the van and push herself up on to roof in the front section and then just sort of roll in. A booster off dad is always a help.

Not the easiest bunk to get into but ive been in them and got in pretty much the same way.
