I have this fuel tank in the garage. I think it is a tank from 1968 -1971. Some things marry up but what I presume is the outlet is a screw thread on the photo which the JK one doesn’t have. I want to know what it is so I can put it up for sale on flee bay or somewhere

It's definitely an outlet because its in a sunken surround. Why it's threaded though I can't say. Maybe its from a splittie and maybe they used screw on fuel pipes? I have no idea.

That looks exactly the same tank as my '71.

The threaded boss on the underside is the fuel outlet, which takes a fitting like this one.

My tank is currently out of the bus so if there are any bits you want me to clarify or take snaps of just let me know.

I think the main difference between early and late is the diameter of the fuel filler neck. Earlies have a much larger filler than late ones.

If you are looking for 72 fuel tank let me know as I have one going for sale
