As far as im aware (i could be wrong, i am more often than not :) ) but i think he uses original front badges, has them stripped and properly heavy duty triple chromed in the States.

I have one from him and its definitely very well done, although it wont be out in the rain for a while to see how it will stand up :) .

Is there any way of machining a recess out the back to allow one to fit to those of us who have a replacement front panel with the bit that sticks out, meaning we currently have to fit a small badge?

Just a thought

You need to cut the 'bump' out of the panel. i dont think you could modify the chrome badge which would certainly expose the bare metal surface. If you have a painted/plastic badge you can recess it to fit. I'm sure i saw a thread here where someone had done the same.

It was Speedwell68 that used a plastic badge....the thread with his "how to"...
