Hey guys,
i was chatting to some one of my mates at work over here in oz and he was telling me how he's just had his type 3 fasty steelies widened. he got a comapny down the road to cut the rim off the spinder then weld the spider into a wider rim....while keeping the same offset.
Therefore, the spider part of the wheel is 3/4" further into the wheel than original. this got me thinking about the whole saga that people have with fitting obscure offset wheels to their buses....iirc the cookie cutter makes fitting the rear wheel impossible - not due to the width but the ofset.
if this was the case, then you could potentially put a wider wheel on the rear and change the offset. if will look slightly different as the spider is slightly further in
all yours for AUS$160 per wheel....didnt think that was that bad for new rim. buy some heavily kurbed wheels for peanuts and choose the offset you want
I also loved how, as always, the discussion progressed and he told the guy who leads up the durability section here in Ford has a carbon fibre wheel sat on his office floor made by a company down the road :
http://carbonrev.com/product/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - hows that for proper german look....does cost in the region of AUS$5000 a set! and looks like they only do 19"
