I had exactly the same problem,only done it when warmed up after a couple of miles.
Turned out to be the pushrod wrongly adjusted as above after I changed the master cylinder.
Does anyone know of any stock looking fuel lines that are more resistant to modern fuels,I'm due to replace mine,just after something a bit longer lasting for peace of mind.IT HAS TO HAVE THE OG LOOK.

How about letting most of the air out of the tyres and pump them up when you use it,£70 for a compressor?.It depends of course how often you use the van.

Eclipse recovery are based near Dover and got to Europe collecting for AA green flag etc etc,they could pick it up maybe but probably a couple of hundred,fix at there yard and drive home?Cheapest way is go fix it yourself in France?Hope that helps
