Valve Guides and Valves

How can you tell your valve guides and valves are worn ? How Much Play Should there be? When Engine your is out And Heads removed. Where's the place to buy new ones?

I wrote some advice last week on forum under 'Head Advice', you will get answers there. As far as buying new valves and guides try GSF or VW Heritage. To replace guides you will have to have a very understanding partner who will allow to use oven to head the heads up to enable you to press the guides out or take them a specialist 'engine shop' to the job for you.Do'nt rely on your local garage unless he has a proper oven or you may end up with broken heads.

Bentley manual says there should be no more than .80 mm movement when the valve is nearly seated.
