Thanks for the tips gents. I will have another look today at it starting with the fuses and going on from there. There was a harsh frost so I am wondering if this has got into headlight relay causing the problems in the first place. Will let you know how get on.

I need a replacement drivers side spring mechanism for my 1970 bay. The connecting bar of my mechanism is knackered and the tailgate gets stuck open and requires a pair of grippers and lots of swearing to get it closed. Anyone got one in their shed they don't need let me know. Cheers Ged

Cleaned up carb changed coil put it all back together. Nothing doing not even trying to start. Kept fiddling and trying till battery died. Any more ideas? I'm stumped

I am a numpty. I have got the old style oil bath filter noy a pancale filter so its not that. I have cleaned the carb and will try putting it back on see if it fires up. Will update on progress
