    Westy sinks

My 69 tourist delivery SO67 Westy also had the plastic sink. I've seen a few 70 SA Westies with the plastic sink; it looks like the steel ones came in 71 on the SA Westies.

    1969 rhd campmobile

And the difference would be? I thought both terms applied. The interior layout is indeed SO67R, and I'm sure this will be confirmed by the westy ID plate on the base of the Z-bed. The SA-built SO67R westies originally had Campmobile stickers on the side of the sink/ice box unit, so I would say...

71 single cab, with M509 dust protection

Immediate plan is to paint the wheels, hubcaps bumpers and taillight lenses, remove the cleats added to the side gates, and enjoy it! Medium term I want to replace all the window and door rubbers, replace the bed slats and respray it original colour. My current daily driver, a 75 Fleetline...

71 single cab, with M509 dust protection

This SC came out of the estate of an old man who had owned it since new. It seems he only used it for occasional shopping trips with his wife, and the only load it ever carried was garden refuse to the dump. It has only done 117,500km and has its original engine. 8)

    RHD Westy?

I have a 1969 SO67R westy. Although it is in South Africa, it is not a SA westy; it was a tourist delivery bus with some interesting options. Some pics here: http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3170 Scott's correct, all the SA westies are bulkhead models to make space for the spare...

    First bay, inaugural road trip

I keep this bus in the Cape, about 1,000 miles away from where I live in Johannesburg, so I don't get to drive it much. Here are some pics of my latest road trip, last week: In case anyone thinks the sun always shines in SA: After four days of rain and flooding near Cape Town, it was good to...

    Whats your day job!

Yes, I was once a sub-editor as well. I am a writer and editor, but I've spent the last couple of years working for an investment bank, running a team that produces corporate banking sales proposals. I enjoy my work and it pays better than media.

    Is this genuine...

That's actually a Jurgens Autovilla. The Autovilla is the real deal. The Karmann Gypsy was built under licence from Jurgens. They also made the Karmann Gypsy in Brazil. About 1,000 Autovillas were made from 1973. The early ones did not have the Luton cab extension that featured from 1975.

    VWs at the drive-in

Utility and looks are great reasons not to slam a bus anywhere. And, fortunately, slammed buses have not yet taken off here, although I know of a lot more people doing or planning to do it. :( I think raised buses would be a lot more useful here if one does want to mess with stock height.
