    The best awnings ?

I am still using a driveway frame tent from JK. 15 years old, has stood up well in many storms. Very stable. You can hang an inner 2 man tent or have large enclosed space. Two sides roll up plus the drive away side. Has a short porch on the front side which helps keep the rain off. It's...

    Fuel in crank case.

Thanks everyone for your input. Work begins on Saturday! Shame as my carbs are running sweet since a recent rolling road tune up, will try hard not to mess up the mixtures. I already have an electric fuel pump, a fuel cut off solenoid sounds like a good idea, but would hide the issue. But it is...

    Fuel in crank case.

Hello all, I noticed a very high oil level in my 1776 with twin weber 40 IDF. Carbs fitted late 2017 so not very old! Purchased from CoolAir. The oil had a very strong smell of petrol, did an oil change checked the levels all good. Took the van out for a shake down all fine, levels all good...

Fuel Hose and the dreaded E10

It's disturbing just how quickly E10 dissolves fuel lines. I try to buy E5 when ever I can especially if the van is going to be sat for awhile and only use E10 on a long run. I considered replacing the lines in the noisy cupboard with copper. My end of season to do list is getting long.

    Right coil for 123 dissy.

Humm, have you checked the voltage when you rev it? I have had problems in the past with an alternator which worked most of the time. Load does make a difference. Made it look like a problem with the coil. Hitting it with a hammer got me home from Cornwall. I have a 123 also, I have found...

    Split Charge draining battery

Mine is the same as Warren, ignition on it charging else its isolated. I agree with creationblue deduction :-) . I do need to up-rate mine a little as the drain on my LB exceeds the charging capacity. But then I have a stupid amp, capacitors and subs.. What I would say about battery chargers, I...

    Microsteer PAS for our buses

Litesteer was straight forward to fit and works great. I have not found it to be bulky. What I would say is the ECU is mounted so any moisture will collect in it so bag it up! I did fit a new (refurbished) steering box first. Makes leaving a Cornish parking space a lot easier!

    Leisure electrics part 2.

Gas works for me when camping without hookup, well when we could still get the 15Kg bottles.. Unless its a very hot day I can still make ice. I tend to chill the beer cooling device on the driveway on Mains before heading off. Lots of Beer and freezer blocks help keep things cool while on...

    Oil cooler / oil pump

I have never had one, its on the list for the next non stock engine. I was worried about driving mine in the 40oC heat last year on a long run back from Ireland. Fine when moving, but when the motorway grinds to a stop my imagination takes over. I guess some considerations: a little more...

    Tinware paint

My engine bay is not colour coordinated. ;-) But I have used High Temp paint on the tinware near the really hot parts, anything else just does not last. If you are using a rattle can, put the can in a bucket of really hot water. Helps mix the paint, better adhesion and more force for better...

Which indictors / Parts ID help.

Afternoon all, Somehow I have ended up with odd indicator housing on the front, one has a separate contact for the hazard light (Passenger side) the other does not (drivers side). At the moment I carry an extra bulb and while it's not causing a problem it's kind of bugging me. It's a 73 Bay...

    Front windscreen replacement?

In the dim distant past I had a new screen fitted by autoglass, must have been an insurance job. Anyway it took two of them to fit it, I now know that was because they needed to force it into place. I did not know any different, but my wipers no longer have full contact with the screen. Years...

    Front windscreen replacement?

I purchased one from Just Kampers, was collection only! Fitted well and a lot easer to see through than the scratched one! If I have not been in a rush I might have purchased a heated one, I don't know if the heater elements are visible but would be nice to see out properly in the winter.

    Just for interest.

Body work! I have tried and while it looks good initially, fast forward 5 years and its look crap, the body work done by a professional lasts a lot longer. I will give most mechanical and electrical jobs a go. I have not touched the gearbox or linkage, this is a mystery to me. But that is on the...

    Engine bay oil leak

I experienced something similar on my previous engine, turned out the oil cooler had worked loose, simple fix once the engine was out...

    Modern (Retro) Radio

No complaints about the sound quality. I run an amp to power 4 6x9. Only one RCA output (front) which is annoying. But my amp has a bridge. I have purchased a sub which I wanted to fit today, but apparently I need to visit a Christmas market.. so the sub will have to wait.

    Modern (Retro) Radio

I went with one from classiccarstereo.co.uk. works ok, watch out for the DAB aerial connectors, they are not all the same. I used an inline thing that is supposed to allow you to use an FM aerial for DAB but so far does not work..presently using a mag mount WiFi aerial..

    won't start when hot?

I had a similar issue with mine when I was setting up dual carbs and a 123Tune. Mine was solved using the Tune and reducing the Ignition advance at low RPM, still takes a bit of cranking when hot (2-3 seconds), but starts. Starts great when cold.. I could probably improve the hot start using...

    Leisure battery electrics.

Nothing to do with the Electrics, but Calor has done a recall on 4.5Kg gas bottles. No one has any stock.. So at the moment I am dependent on a hook up for cold beer and ice for the sundowners. I am not sure what to do about the gas. I could switch to another provider, but they have a different...
