Which big bore heat exchangers are beat ?

Are you building the engine yourself or getting it done by an engine builder? I went with mofoco 042 heads as they were recommened by my engine builder: extra cooling fins, 3 angle valve job, cast and machined in the usa http://www.mofoco.com/category/VW_Performance_Heads/c52"...

Which big bore heat exchangers are beat ?

I love my 2110cc engine, which does have bigger valves I used to have a 1776, mild port and polish on heads with stock valves and it was amazing I've also had a 'better specd' 1776 with bigger valves and it was not as good. People, who know what they are doing, can build good and powerful...

Cooking on a Danbury fold out cooker - what is it like?

thanks @Ozziedog I'm sure you will hear about any danbury cookers before me, i'm rarely on this forum. If i come across a mint original one you can have it as my van isn't a danbury. I may even ask an engineer friend if he could make me something based on the danbury idea. Thanks for your replies

Cooking on a Danbury fold out cooker - what is it like?

I've got two of them under the other buddy seat. I've not actually used one inside the van though, so perhaps I'll give that ago first! Ideally I want something that I can just flip out and fire up quickly though

Cooking on a Danbury fold out cooker - what is it like?

Thanks very much for the reply I usually do all my cooking outside as well, but want something for inside the van so i can at least make a cup of tea, or cook a simple meal if it is raining outside. My van isn't a danbury conversion, but i also have a buddy seat behind the drivers seat, so...

Cooking on a Danbury fold out cooker - what is it like?

Hi I'm considering a few cooker options for my van. What is it actually like cooking on the danbury cooker that folds out of the buddy seat? Is it a bit low down? Any input from people who have cooked on one gratefully received This thread has a few pictures of the cooker that i'm on about...

Gearbox question for people with large engines

No worries for the update Huge thanks to you for posting all the ratio stuff, it helped me understand things a bit better. I have passed it over to loads of people on late bay, so thanks on behalf of them as well. I've not done much round town driving as yet, so can't comment on that one yet...

Gearbox question for people with large engines

New Gearbox now fitted, so I thought i'd update this thread with the impact it has made. New box was built by Bears and is based on an 002 box with same gears as standard, except 4.57 ring & pinion (apparently it's only the final drive that alters the overall gearing). Tyres are 185/65 R15...

Gearbox question for people with large engines

Gearbox question for people with large engines

Trikky2 I've checked the notes I made when speaking to the bloke who I'll get to build my box. He says the same as you and suggests using a 4.57 final drive ring and pinion gear (same as used on a 2l box). There is one bit in your post that i don't understand: I am currently running a 2...
