Thanks for that. Does anyone know if I need a carb spacer as it's a single port, single carb. Also is there much difference in quality on the alternator kits available from the main suppliers.

The dynamo in my 1970 1.6 sp is shot. So I am thinking of changing to an alternator is there any reccomandations as to which one to go for and where from. Any advice is much appreciated . Ta

Cheers lads you've put mind at ease re this. At I can get home hopefully without too much drama. I think i,ll go for the upgrade when back. It's the first time the gen light has come on for me and I had visions of the van shooting up in flames for some reason.

Hi people. I need advice /reassurance re the red gen light. I'm currently away in the van this weekend around cornwall and the red generator light has come on. I have checked v belt and all seems fine ie not broken or slipping. Does this just mean the generator is knackered and not charging...
