    YIPPY NEW CSP BRAKES

Unless you attached the vacuum booster line then yes the pedal will be quite stiff. Stopping my '74 (boosted discs) when the engine isn't running requires harder pedal pushing than either my '69 or '67. With the engine running and the vacuum line booster working it's of course MUCH nicer...

fitting type 4 engine in bay

Quite a lot. Primarily you'd need to hack about a lot of the metal in the engine bay, as the motors are quite differently sized. And there's a hanger/engine support issue somewhere too, I forget where. You'd want to change the gearbox too, the TIV doesn't need to spin as much as the 1600...

    Noisy Engine???

I think there must be a fair amount of judgement in valve adjustment. In the amount of resistance the feeler gauge should have and so forth. I'd been doing my valves myself for ages, she was always a bit clackety, but ran great. When carby trouble hit (stupid twin carbs!) and I took her to a...

    How hot is too hot????

Woah! 140degrees Celsius?! I thought 120*C was the generally recommended upper limit. My VDO oil temp gauge normally sits around 100 to 110*C, on the freeway doing about 85-90km/hr. I calibrated it in boiling water at which point it said 99degC. In town it usually stays a bit under 100*C. If...

Cutting a belly pan inspection hole?

On both my '67 and my '69 the belly pans are all welded: no rivets. These are both doubledoors. Cheers, A.

Where to find parts catalogue PDF?

Thanks for the info guys. On the Ratwell site (http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Microfiche.html), is there a list of official VW part numbers? I couldn't see it for the life of me. For example, more specifically, if I look at the Rear Axle figure...

I have a '67 Splitbus and a '74 which I love. I now have a good range of busses; split, early bay, late bay. Enough for now. Cheers, A.

Hmm, interesting. '68 a bit of a funny unique year wasn't it? '67 was. Thanks, A.

Where to find parts catalogue PDF?

Hi all, I need a parts catalogue as a PDF, one which lists every bit on the bus, I don't mean like a repro' thing more like original VW microfiche scans. I tried searching but just kept getting R.Atwell's site. Kind-of the thing I want is to be found at the following link, but it's in the...

    Engine Cutting out

Mine did that when the timing was really out (too far advanced). But it was related to overheating - only died once it's hot, which of course was caused by the off timing... Sorry, that's all the help I can offer. Cheers, A.

    67 DD PANEL

Hi there! Thought I'd say g'day with a picture, might cheer some folks up hey? :D Here's my '67 double door. Aussie built. OK, it's not quite the right kind of '67, jee you people are fussy! Hehe. OK, here's my '69 double door. Better? Hmm, I promise, that's a double...
