    Today’s California camping photo

Check the coil. Last time my bus died, it felt like running out of fuel, but it was my flamethrower that suddenly failed. I just replaced it with a blue coil and everything was fine.

    Ignition barrel starter switch issues

Oh yes😎 i've had my bus for 11-12 years and always had this issue. I simply added a door bell, which starts the engine, when ignition is on. It's a kind of anti theft device 😁

Where's best for new starter motor?

I use a Skoda starter, from a TDI model. Powerfull and self supporting . It just need a little mod to mount on a 3 rib box. And i also use a hard start relay, to ensure full power to the starter.

(RHD) Headlights H4 for US import earlybay

Nice set of Hella H4 head lights for your 68-73 bus. Bougth from Just Kampers, found out they were for 'left lane traffic', replaced them with 'right lane traffic' versions. Used by me, is a real upgrade to the old us sealed beam lights. Price is for both: 50£ Including head lamp side...

    30a v. 38 amp regulator ?

Old VW guys tell me that it's no problem using a 30A regulator with a 38A dynamo. But you only get the 30 A output. Must admit i sold the bus dynamo and swapped to a 50A generator (still with external regulator). The 38A dynamo is perfect for at upright conversion on a type4 engine, as it is a...

    Converting 5x205 to 5x112 on a 68' bus

On my june 68 westy i have late bay disc brakes up front and an adapter 5*112-> 5*205, so i can run flipped Sprintstars. (The og 14" hit the caliber) In the back i have the og setup, also with Sprintstars. I have just got a rear end from a 76 latebay for free, and now i'm considering of using...

First non-start of the winter, Help please!

And when you have changed the bush and inspected the starter you might have advantage of fitting a 'hard start relay'. https://www.vwheritage.com/ac9112917-hard-start-relay-kit-12v-vw-spare You can create your own kit, just use a relay that can handle the power, eg 80 A. And a 16 A fuse. R.

Earlybay with 6 rib and 2L type4.. can't shift all gears

Quick update..five years later. I did move the hole locomotive so the gearshift is now perfect. The engine has worked well over the years. You can actually cruise through Europe with a constants speed of 110-120 km/h with that setup. The engine will now go into next level: smaller carburetors...

Please note CSP have TÜV -- makes them legal here in Denmark. I've heard Wilwood are not road legal ..not sure, though R.

Lowering my 68 Westy and up rating brakes

On my 68 westy i use dropped spindles, disks and hub from a late bay, And to have 5*205 wheels on i have 5*112 to 5*205 adapter plate. It's not possible to use the std 14" wheels. I use 15" steel Sprintstars which i have flipped, so they compensate for the wide setup. Org 15" splitscreen will...

    Poxy csp brake kit

Nice to hear that it seems to get sorted out. And CSP also learned something :) They are nice and proff guys, i've been in their shop a few times (it' close to Denmark). A cheaper option would have been to swap to brakes from a 72-79, I did that on my 68' (but it gave me different stud...
