    Gearstick?

My centre sections definitely welded too. M Plate checker says the pans were factory fit but I bet one of the previous "careful" owners sheared the bolts off and tacked it back on. There's been more names on the v5 than members of So Solid Crew !

    Gearstick?

I have belly pans so had to pull rod from rear as no access to middle underfloor.

    Gearstick?

Sparky is right, unless you have good bushes and coupler you will still get the "umbrella in a bucket of porridge" feel even if you have the best shifter on the market. Unfortunately you do have to pull the engine and lower the gearbox down to pull the rear shift rod out to access the...

Excellent news, hope it sails through the test now

    Headlight not working

Don't forget to check the actual bulbs themselves - it's not that unusual that when one blows it blows the other one, or when you fit a new one on side the other one gives up - this is due to the filaments gradually burning away over time and getting thinner so even a small increase in current...

    Rear wheel bearings.

When I fitted new drums and back plates to my 71 I found that the drums rubbed the back plates when the wheels were bolted up tight. I just removed drums and put a flat washer on each wheel stud then refitted drums on top - no more rubbing 😀

    Huco fuel pump

I ran mine vertical with outlets at the top - now gone for a Carter rotary though so could mount it on chassis rail out of engine bay.

    Gear linkage coupling screw.

Yes, they should stick out. It should also have a hole in the square head to put some locking wire through.

    Anti roll bar bush

I'm not so sure that the bushes should be split ? I've got some from JK and they are not split type : https://www.justkampers.com/vw-t2-bay-window-parts/t2-bay-front-suspension-steering-wheel-bearings/anti-roll-bars-fitting-kits/211-498-101-a-anti-roll-bar-fit-kit-type-2-1968-to-1979-pair.html...

    Engine Sound Deadening Grills

As far as I know the metal grills came in with the tall rear lights, perhaps someone on here has a crossover 72 model year who can confirm this ? My bus is a 71 so last of the earlys, with the what was effectively the late splitscreen rear end. The boards from Rackhams fitted really well with...

    Subs

Well just realized I will have been using this forum for 10 years in October - and the advice found in posts and the genuine used spares bought from it have saved me a small fortune. Yes, its definitely been quieter over the last 12 months or so but with no events to inspire anyone, no camping...

    Sound deadening panels engine bay

Got mine from Rackhams in Ipswich, was a few years ago now so not sure if they still do them. Probably best to give them a call as their website seems geared to their body repair business now. The fit was great and they even supplied the rivets .

    Gas locker under Volkswares bed

Anyone got a gas locker under a Volkswares bed ? Have mounted my propex under there and at the moment don't have a hob/sink unit to put the bottle in. Height from floor to bottom of bed frame is 30cm, planning to use a 907 but most lockers for them are .35cm tall. Any ideas much appreciated ;)

    Concrete Cancer at its finest.

Ozzie, you are either very brave or completely mad to take that on - or possibly both :) Think I would have taken the van out of the garage first though! I've heard concrete dust inhalation causes a sore throat that is only soothed by Stella ?

    Chassis Plate & M-Plate Locations

My 71 has the chassis plate behind driver's seat (rhd) and M plate behind passenger's. 68s have loads of one year only "quirks "though - but seems odd putting a chassis plate on a removable panel ?
