    Engine

Blimey - how did he manage that? BTW in my 1970 I build a 1776 with full flow and ICT34s in the garage from an old 1300 beetlae engine bought cheap off ebay. Luckily the crank was OKs o I just polished it myself with the machine work done by a guy in a shed up near Dudley. I followed Wilson's...

    Balancing Wide 5s

The reason I ask is that I generally fit my own motorcycle tyres (if tubed) and don't bother balancing them - seems to work OK. Not like you're breaking any speed barriers with a T2..

    Balancing Wide 5s

    do they obviously need balancing?

Fresh engine build damaged after 800miles (engine builder refusing to fix under warranty)

I read the story , there will have been limitations and exclusions to the warranty I'm sure.. The speculation by mechanoid doesn't sound unreasonable.. but sizing bearings correctly and setting endfloat is about as fundamental as it gets when building an engine.. It would be interesting to see...

    Damaged pistons and barrels

Those markes appear to coincide with the ring gap - could that top ring be gapped incorrectly. Random guess obvs.

    Door cards stopping them rotting

The water is being suck up from the bottom where it gathers - peraps sit in it and get someone to play a hose over each side to see if you can trace the point(s) of entry

Oval dowel pin holes on crankshaft. What should I do?

    Headlight dipping.. realy or wiring?

Hi Folks update.. the dip/main started working again - I think after a sharp tap on the relay with a screwdriver handle. But then side/rear lights failed. Pretty sure thi is not connected and the new problems is down to a faulty switch.. BTW am I right in thinking its the two LHS fuseways that...

    Headlight dipping.. realy or wiring?

Hi folks Beam was stuck in full but I pulled the switch (indicator/flash) stalk to check wiring and it switched to low..?? Now it's stuck low and I'm uncertain why. I replaced the relay several years ago and relocated it to slightly away from the fusebox and windscreen leaks. Looking at the...

A few snapshots from Buses by the Bridge 27. “The bridge” refers to the London Bridge which, for some reason, is here in Arizona. About 600 buses.

In 1967, the City of London was looking for someone to buy a dismantled London Bridge. American entrepreneur Robert Paxton McCulloch placed the winning bid of £1.02 million ($2.4 million at the time) on 18 April 1968. Each of the bridge’s 10,276 exterior granite blocks were numbered and then...

    Sump full of fuel (again)

Float them in some fuel and look at the differing 'plimsol lines' then try leaving them on the window sill for week or two to see if they 'dry out'

    Window lift channel

Don't open up the channel and try and 'crimp' it back on the glass. I did that, but only once.😩

Hot Engine and Oil light on advice needed

It was hot at the weekend - that won't have helped, my oil light was flickering at a (very low) tickover too.

Who to trust fitting new clutch?

Agreed.. but it's more of a pita if you have twin carbs to manoeuvre the motor out of the bay plus you need a smooth flat surface to roll out the engine and a decent trolley jack and ideally a 'cradle'of some kind between the jack and the engine.. ..saying that it's hardly like working on a...
