    Day Out

Weather was cold but sunny yesterday so took the van for a long run to the coast. Run was over an hour and managed to get above 60 on some good bits of road. The outside temp was only 6 deg, but the engine temp stayed at around 100 Deg, so I am hoping the fitting of the oil cooler and...

    Engine questions

Changed the idle jets for 57's, backed out the mixture screws 1/4 of a turn on both carbs. Seems to run a bit smoother on my drive, haven't had a chance to take the bus for an extended run yet. Also found out that the old girl has a single port cooling fan. Waiting for a twin port fan to...

    Cooling Fan

Had a feel round the back of the dog house yesterday. Definitely more than 2-3 mm gap, so I suppose I did use the single port fan on the new engine. Will be ordering a twin port fan and engine out soon.

    Cooling Fan

Thanks. I originally had a single port engine, but when I changed to a twin port I can't remember if I used the fan from the single or not. Guess its time to stick my fingers in the back of the tin ware. Might explain why my engine is running a bit too hot...

    Alternator pulley

Is there an alternator pulley that is slightly bigger than the stock? I have an aluminium crank pulley which has degrees on it and using the standard fan belt has quite a bit of play in it.

    Engine questions

I may not be an expert, but I do know that the vacuum advance pipe needs to be blocked when checking the timing. As stated previously engine ran like a dog below 30, and best results was at 32...

Indicators not flashing but hazards do

Does your headlamps dip when the indicator stalk is pulled? If not it could be the indicator/headlamp dip switch on the steering column. If the headlights dip then it could be the combined indicator headlamp flash relay. Or wiring in between.
