    Retrosound stereo install

I think it's what you describe as the latter, the shafts clamp the face plate from the front and the unit from behind. I can't remember exactly how I fitted mine but I remember it being a bit odd and putting pressure on the faceplate.

    Early Bay Not Hot Starting

Hi, I don't think you read my post fully, I had no spark, Unless you are referring to the OP post This weekend I threw away the EMPI  electronic ignition module I fitted about 12 years ago and put in a new set of points. As soon as I started the bus I knew there was difference, once...

    Early Bay Not Hot Starting

I've been chasing down something similar but I have a stock 1600 setup. Eventually when it wouldn't start last weekend (and stunk of fuel) I found no spark when turning over and I'm just about to swap the old elec ignition in the dizzy for points just to see if this resolved it. It was odd and...

    Fuel pump fitment

Spoke to VWH, very helpful as always, offered to send a straight replacement but I opted to go for the cheaper sealed unit as I don't expect another new one to be any different, they were happy to oblige. I've mailed them pics of the fitment as I can't believe I'm the only person who has had...

Thanks, looks much more how my old pump was.

    Fuel pump fitment

I spoke too soon. I just opened the engine lid and it stinks of fuel, wipe my finger over the top of the pump and it got fuel pooled around the bolt top. It's as tight as I'm comfortable with and I guarantee if I open it there is no seal to stop fuel going up the bolt thread. Doubt you can see...

    Fuel pump fitment

The fuel hose is pushed hard up against the dizzy cap spring bending it at an angle. It's possible through vibration it could wear through the pipe.

    Fuel pump fitment

So turns out my "new" fuel pump I actually bought 3 years ago and the design has changed (so VWH tell me) only alternative is buy a new one (with a bit if discount for my trouble, thanks VWH) The good news is it doesn't leak, the bad news is it looks the flippin' same and the same problem exists...

    Fuel pump fitment

Yep that is the problem though, I have undone the 6 screws and it either hits the inlet manifold or is too close to the dyno belt for comfort. I have tightened the top bolt but there is no gasket or anything to stop the leak, I guess I need to get in touch with VWH. My bus is totally stock so it...

    Fuel pump fitment

I tried to change my fuel pump this morning and had to leave the old on in the end. I have one of these from VWH: https://www.vwheritage.com/113127025d-fuel-pump-t1-t2-1-2-1-6-for-dynamo-rod-best-quality First off the inlet at the top hits the inlet manifold so I undid the bolt at the bolt to...

GONE - Old Royal Traveler 3 drive away awning

Free to a good home, an old Canvas style Grey Royal Traveler 3. Don't have photo's of it erected I'm afraid. Frame in perfect condition, 1 small tear that I remember where the top rear corner of the sliding door has torn through, it's no problem, I used it for years like this. I did have some...

    Quality of new front panels?

Hadn't seen those before, very nice! Wish they had been available when my front end was replaced.

    Quality of new front panels?

In a word, nope. They are thinner than OG but I have one fitted as the cost comparison to a front clip is considerable.

There seems to be negligible play, it barely moves. Having said that it's been drained of oil and I have fiddled with the adjuster since it was removed from my bus so I'm not sure that's answering your question?
