In general, OEM ARB's are heat treated. Welding will change this, usually making the material softer/easier to bend and then not return to its original shape. I could make the shape, but you need an oven to heat treat it correctly. A little bit of google research suggests that you can make one...

Is it a modified stock beam or 'after market'? I'm interested if you don't sell to previous person.

If you weld it the properties of the ARB will be knackered by the heat.

I'm keeping mine and converting it to 240v with uk plug etc. I don't know if i'll use it, but its alot easier to keep i than cut it out later when I want it.

Little bodywork update, Chris has been removing the dents in the lower rear quarter and around the elec hookup and I've been looking at repairing my 'other' bumper But decide that its too far gone with this rust and other repairs and filler, and probably a pattern anyway as its rather thin...

Re the wood rim, I've kept it for another project. If your looking for one go to MCJ, designed for a bus, so you'll see the gauges :-)

Watching this thread, thinking about the same for mine front and back, don't need more height, just stop it getting lower when loaded. I know air shocks have a larger body for the air, amazingly, but don't know what will fit, and they ain't cheap, so don't want to get the wrong ones!

That#s how they're supposed to be davidoft, pins at the back to locate them. It actually states in my official Volkswagen body book to make sure they are located when you re-assemble. Any way, it's done now and at the paint shop. :-)
