Having a bit of a ding on the side panel of my bus sorted out and the guy doing it has asked if I want the old original hook up blanked out before he paints the panel. I think I would like a modern replacement that can be wired in at a later date when I sort out the interior/ electrics but am not too bothered about this, more concerned with how it looks . Do I leave the original (which from memory is broken and missing its flap anyway) ,have it removed and smoothed out, or put some sort of cover on instead which can be painted then removed at a later date if needs be, or Does anyone sell a decent/ retro looking 240v hook up socket?? What are my options here? What have others done please?

I like the socket! If you can get an original one complete they polish up nicely

I'm keeping mine and converting it to 240v with uk plug etc. I don't know if i'll use it, but its alot easier to keep i than cut it out later when I want it.

Yeah I like them too 8)
I use a lead with a U.S. plug on it from Creation Blue on here :D

i kept mine, just made up a lead using bits and pieces from ebay. Currently plugged in with oil filled radiator keeping the inside of teh camper free of damp! glad i kept mine

I don't have one in the side of my bus, although I think those original chrome ones looks mint. Mine is in the engine bay on the LHS just below my spare wheel holder above my LB.

I always have put a post it note on the steering wheel to remind me to unplug it before I drive off though.

Thanks for all your comments guys , decided I agree with 67westy and r73, a polished up original looks cool and didn't realise they could still be used.
Checked a picture of my bus which is in storage at the moment, and although I have the tag and main body of the socket ( which both look in quite good nick ) I am missing the flap.
Don't suppose anyone who opted to blank it in has still got one hanging around?

Yeah my bus was flapless when I got it!!
Not sure where I found another from now? Think it was at a show?

and hopefully not to put 240 volts AC through a socket rated at 125 volts maximum?
