Bird Rebuilds 1776! Job done, thanks for the help folks!!

If I could add my £0.02-worth, I wouldn't worry too much about polishing the ports. They tend to work better when left slightly rough on anything other than a full-house race or rally engine, as a too-smooth finish can lead to fuel dropping out of the air flow onto the port wall, while a...

    Folding Caravans

Oh yeah, that side, like in the pic...

    Folding Caravans

Out of interest, which side do the castors go on? I was having a good luck underneath mine on Sunday while I waited for recovery and there are two rectangular box sections on the side opposite the hinges - is this where they go? I saw on the French owner club site designs for ones to go on the...

What did you do with your early bay today

Found my spare dizzie and got her running again. Then shortened the ridiculously long Pertronix king lead so it wouldn't chaff the fan belt any more... D'oh...

    A tiny bit lower...

I might be a bit too picky on this but was hoping to canvass opinion... When I first got the bus, as a total newbie, I had it lowered (of course) at a drive in/drive out service. All good, van sits level now with slightly larger rear tyres, etc. However, at the time, I should have had...

    Folding Caravans

Run-on brakes... very efficient, as the recovery man found out on Sunday when he tried to back it into place when we got home...

    Folding Caravans

Very nice... Out of interest, our 1600Sp with twin carbs and mild headwork pulls the Export (unladen 500Kg) plus five of us and all our gear no problems... J

    Folding Caravans

Yeah, you see, I knew that ours is the Export... Not enough caffeine yet... No pics of the interior yet but it'll be going up again soon so I'll get some then. Happy that I finally managed to get the photo thing to work - thanks for the steer... J

    Folding Caravans

Let's see if this photobucket thingie works... Here's our Confortmatic - no idea of the age but a bit of a bargain as it was on the Isle of Wight. Ended up next to Justin and family at CamperJam - lots of admiring looks from us to his trailer. We've used the Rapido four times this year -...

    SPOTTED thread

Lovely clean white over cream Devon out front of a house in Hinkley where I pulled up to make a couple of phone calls. On an L plate so a crossover? Looked like narrow wheels... Owner tinkering and took delivery of a package while I was there. Didn't get a photo as I probably looked...

What did you do with your early bay today

Sat for two hours waiting for the RAC on the way home from Action... Engine misfiring on way - felt electrical. Bought new points and condenser at show, thought fit when home (only 20 min drive). Cut out completely on way home, coasted into Shell garage. Felt in dizzie - points broken...

    Courier for eBay purchase

Thanks all, lots of useful advice so very grateful. Feel a bit daft - didn't win the item as it suddenly went mental at the last minute... hate it when you spend a week watching something at reasonable money then someone snipes at the last minute. Anyway, thanks all again. Jim

    Courier for eBay purchase

No worries - thanks for considering it. It's a small caravan awning so a bag of poles and a bag of canvas - around 25kg total I guess. If anyone can help, would be grateful. I've found a man and van off t'internet but would prefer to give money to a fellow EB'er. Many thanks all, Jim

    Courier for eBay purchase

Gillingham - don't have full address yet.

    Courier for eBay purchase

Thanks for that - will be useful for other times but on this occasion, I'm looking for a man and van who drives round the country - seller not interested in packaging it or producing documents, etc. But many thanks, I appreciate the nod. Jim

    Courier for eBay purchase

Hope this is the right location... Can anyone recommend a courier to pick up and deliver an eBay purchase from Kent to Bedfordshire at reasonable money? I used one guy before who used to drive around the country picking up and dropping off and he just grabbed yours on the way past but he's...

    items taken on holiday??????

I'd agree about the engine. Our SP has been dragging me, the missus, three kids, van full of stuff, towing a 500Kg caravan filled with food and awning and have only had to drop into third a couple of times. Sure, it won't win any races but chugs along nicely. Can also boil the kettle on the rear...

    Yet another sound system question

Yep, that amp or something similar. When it comes to matching components of the system, there's no real need to stick to the same manufacturer throughout, as long as you do go for decent brands for everything. I would recommend going for a head unit that has high outputs for amplifiers -...

    Yet another sound system question

You'll probably be OK with front speakers running off the head but an amp for the back would be a definite advantage. I've got 165mm components in the front doors, running off a Pioneer head. Bear in mind speakers in the front R&R panel will sound good to you but not to anyone in the back...

    popping/backfire help

I've had similar and getting worse for a couple of weeks and eventually, it ran like a sack of proverbial on the way home from Dub Vacation... Comp tested the cylinders I could get to and saw 10bar on each, give or take (150psi-ish). Started working my way through it and noticed the...
