    Noisy Speedo!

Thanks for the reply. Is it just a matter if unscrewing it from the back of the speedo and can you do this without taking the dials out of the dash?

    Cover up

72baywesty, we also have a cover on ours and after 3.5 years, it has started to wear and I have often wondered if no cover is better than covering it up. I am now at the point of having to buy a new cover and at near on £500 every 3.5 years, it does make you wonder.

    Noisy Speedo!

While driving the van last Saturday, a loud squeeling noise came from the back of the speedo and the dial on speedo shot round to 90mph while in second gear! Not attepted to look at the cause yet but will be taking the dash apart at the weekend. Anyone had a similer problem and if so, could...

PICT 34 - Engine Running Leam

Right, got back from work, put the pipe from the distributor back onto the inlet on the left of the carb (vac signal to operate the vac advance) and blocked off the one facing me (operating warm/cool air inlet flap on the air cleaner). Thanks to Trikky2 for putting me back on track ;-) I also...

PICT 34 - Engine Running Leam

OK thanks. I will pop down the mechanics early this week, put the pipe back on the side of the carb and block off the front inlet and ask him to setup the mixture again. So am I looking for him to set CO to about 2-3% ?

PICT 34 - Engine Running Leam

Trickky2, thanks for the reply so it was connected properly in the first place with the exception that there was nothing blocking off the one facing me ( warm/cool air inlet flap on the air cleaner). Now, if put it VAC pipe back on the vac signal pipe and block off the one facing me, will I...

PICT 34 - Engine Running Leam

Happystamps many thanks for the info. Just taken the van for a run and here are my observations - 1). Engine fired up quickly but a little sluggish on tickover once it started / before it was warm. Engine ticked over lovely once warm. 2). A little hesitate pulling away in first gear and...

    How Hot Is Your DipStick!!

Rickyrooo1, many thanks for pointing me in the right direction regarding the engine running lean. I need to run the van properly to really test but having it tested on Friday showed that it was indeed running very lean :-)

PICT 34 - Engine Running Leam

Just to conclude this post. I had the van rigged up to a C02 monitor at the local machanics on Friday and the van was indeed running lean and the carb is now balanced correctly or so we assume. It has been balanced with the C02 sitting between 1-2 on the computers reading Does anyone know if...

Do All Vans Have A Thermostat?

Many thanks for the information. I will take a look at I installing the thermostate before the winter settles in. Fired up the van the other day and I can feel a lot of air flow underneath the engine so the fins are obviously open. This has taught me a lessen in that I had the whole van...

Do All Vans Have A Thermostat?

OK many thanks. I assume if they are open, I should be able to feel the air flow under the engine?

Do All Vans Have A Thermostat?

Can they be fitted without taking the engine out?

Do All Vans Have A Thermostat?

Many thanks so much for the pictures. I have quickly popped out to the van and felt behind the housing and can feel the bar. I cannot feel the flaps but hope they are open and will try again when it stops raining! I wonder if there is a default state when the thermostat has been removed e.g...

Do All Vans Have A Thermostat?

Thanks, obviously mine have been removed at some point then so that is a job before the winter sets in then! Priority at the moment is to ensure the flaps are open and air is being pushed down from fanshroud. Pretty new to getting my hands dirty so bare with me! For the life of me, I cannot...
