While driving the van last Saturday, a loud squeeling noise came from the back of the speedo and the dial on speedo shot round to 90mph while in second gear! Not attepted to look at the cause yet but will be taking the dash apart at the weekend. Anyone had a similer problem and if so, could this be the speedo itself or the cable going into the speedo?

Many thanks for any help.

It could well be the cable. Try squirting some GT85 down the outer sheath. It used to do this on mine apparently and this was the solution, although had my bus 6 years and no recent issues.

Thanks for the reply. Is it just a matter if unscrewing it from the back of the speedo and can you do this without taking the dials out of the dash?

Yup :)

Before you unscrew the nut from the back of the speedo, put a wrap of tape, leaving a "tail", to stop the nut from sliding all the way down the cable between the various nose panels. It can be a bugger to get the nut back up to the speedo when that happens :?
