    Engine Misfire/Fuel Starve Issue

Hi, it’s been a while. Hoping to have a bit of help. The van has started playing up, intermittent misfire, which I’ve been trying to trace, but difficult as it’s so intermittent. Took her out today to try and re-enact issue, but now she’s just not wanting to run. When I rev, she starts to rev...

    Westfalia Water Tank

Hi All, I’ve been searching for a new replacement water tank for my westy, the one which sits behind cool box/sink unit however after over a year still found nothing. As a result I am thinking of repairing mine and cleaning it up as it seems in similar condition to those I can buy second hand...

    Sliding Door Lock - Advice

The sliding door mechanism on my 69 LHD Westy works fine, with the exception of the lock 'switch' internally (above the handle, teardrop shaped white plastic). In the 'up' position, the door is unlocked internally, but in the 'down' is locked and won't allow the external handle to be lifted to...

Replacement front beam, ride height and more

Cheers for the input Ozziedog. Sounds like I’ll stick to the ride height and look at improving the steering with the right upgrades.

Replacement front beam, ride height and more

Evening all, Hope lockdown has you all busy on your buses. I have been told that my front beam is showing some signs of rust and needs to be replaced. From what I understand my 69 bay has the ‘early’ beam, with 100mm fixings. Can anyone offer up any thoughts on this? Also, are the front axles...

NOS 1600 Single Port (Type 126a) Engine

This is the one Ozziedog. I was very nervous. Having blown a lot of cash on a complete whim without prior research, I started to question my decision. I am glad I saw it through, thanks for your words at the time, it’s always good to have someone tell me I’m not completely mental!

NOS 1600 Single Port (Type 126a) Engine

For those interested and who may have seen my many noob questions over the past week or so, here is a my 1600 NOS engine fitted. This is a NOS Type 126a Industrial engine, I bought a few weeks ago. I sourced a NOS 90’s Bocar 30 Pict 1 carb and a genuine 205T Dizzy from the US to complement the...

    Front Tinware

Yes, it’s possible, if you pull the engine forward an inch off the mounts. Means the engine and all wiring etc can stay connected, just remove 2 mount bolts off engine and off gearbox mount.

    Front Tinware

Just wondering if it is possible to replace the front tinware (firewall shroud) with the engine in? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

    Generator Wiring

Wondering if there is anyone who can give me a sanity check on my engine install. I removed the old 1600 with alternator conversion, by NOS 1600 with porsche style small genny and external regulator is now in. I have wired it up as follows; Large red cable from battery postivie to B+ on...

    Clutch Noise - Following Replacement

More clutch woes! Following on from an earlier issue, where I had the release bearing sleeve fitted with an early clutch plate, I replaced the full clutch assembly with an LUK early style. -...

Early Clutch Centering Ring & Springs

After a few days trawling the net, it seems GSF car karts does the plate as a stand alone item FYI

Early Clutch Centering Ring & Springs

The clutch spring plate is definitely 230mm dia. As for the clutch itself I am unsure at the moment but 200 looks about right.

Early Clutch Centering Ring & Springs

1600 twin port, I’ll double check size. The plate measured around 230mm I thought

Early Clutch Centering Ring & Springs

Does anyone know where I might get hold of either; 228mm early Clutch pressure plate or; Centering ring and pressure plate springs? I’m loathed to fork out for a whole new clutch after doing some damage to the above through fitting with a late guide sleeve

Gearbox Release Bearing Sleeve? Required or not?

So now I’m on the lookout for a early clutch pressure plate 😂

Gearbox Release Bearing Sleeve? Required or not?

For those that may want to know, the answer is do not put a late clutch bearing guide on an early clutch. The spring plate will force itself into the guide sleeve and stop the engine and seize! Every days a school day. Pulled the engine this evening and found the issue, now need a new...
