    My 1970 Westy rescue

Hi guy's, my gear change was sloppy. It was so bad that I had to fish around to find the gears the whole time. Today I made a replacement front guide bush since you cannot buy them off the shelf over here. I can now actually drive the bus without fear of trying to find gears and holding up traffic.

    South African buses

Your tail lights look a lot different compared to the 'regular' Brasilian bus though.

I am not sure what to make of that. Maybe Fig (resident fleetline guru) could could tell us how that is possible :D I have sent him a PM. Regardless, this is a unique bus and I am sure it gets lots of attention!

    South African buses

Hi Low lighter, we call those busses Brasilia's over here. They were sold by VWSA from 1976-1978. Your bus is in great condition! I must say, there are not too many of those busses around anymore.

    South African buses

I am from SA and can relate to these comments made. I bought a '72 so67r Westy 3 years ago. I had to replace a lot of metal and still busy with the bodywork. I then came across a '70 so67r Westy standing at a scrap metal dealer ready to be cut up for scrap metal. I brought it home, fixed it up...

    Camping in South Africa

This rear is actually a canopy that is meant like an awning for a bus without a pop top. I just throw it over the top to seal the entrance into the bus. I can take some photos of the rear tent awning if you like. All the poles of the tent is aluminum and the uprights has telescopic arms that can...

    Camping in South Africa

I am camping with a 1970 Westy and found this "Sunseeker Kombi tent" produced locally. This picture was taken 2 weeks ago when we had a Bus gathering with no less than 8 early Westy's attending.

    My 1970 Westy rescue

Well, I work in Centurion which is a suburb south of Pretoria. I found it less then 5km from my workplace. It cost me R3000 for the bus. It had no engine, beetle rims, bits and pieces missing but still worth it. I am using bits from my '72 Westy to get this one up and running. Here is the sub...

    My 1970 Westy rescue

A friend called me and told me that this bus was standing at a scrap metal dealer. When I got there, I couldn't leave without it I started to work on the missing pieces and it's coming together slowly
